Hannah: 'The young leader's camp 2010 will be a summer that you will remember for years to come! This camp provides an enthusiastic, unique, memorable experience that will help you to not only develop your leadership skills and qualities, but you as a person. You will have the chance to take part in many different, new and interesting activities and workshops alongside 150 of the
Mixing with a huge variety of people from all over the country, and from three different sports; netball, athletics and gymnastics, allows you to make good friends and "have a ball", especially in some of the more energetic sessions, from ultra fusion dance workshops to sport specific sessions filled completely with warm-up games!
You need to be up and raring to go all day long and to have your head filled with new ideas to share with others! You will have the opportunity to learn from others, but also learn things about yourself that you never knew! Sessions are held not only on coaching and umpiring in netball, but also about running a club, high five competitions, improvised games and much more!
From my own personal experience at the 2009 camp, I have improved my knowledge and skills as a coach, umpire and friend. I had a blast of a time! The fun started within the first few minutes, where we had to piggy back and leap frog people that we'd never met before. Now all these fun and games I try to implement into my own leadership and use them with the young people I work with! I learnt lots about other sports while I was there too, so much so that I now coach tag rugby as well as netball! During my time at the camp I realised what a difference and an inspiration I could be to other young people! For me, the camp was perfect to set me well on my way to becoming a more experienced coach and leader - now I couldn't imagine my life without it!
The camp is perfect for all types of people, outgoing and shy, tall and short, experienced or beginner. The main things we're looking for is enthusiastic and committed individuals who are prepared to get stuck into the volunteering world! If you think you're the sort of person who could bring fresh ideas to the table and have an open mind, apply now! Hope to see you at the YLC 2010!'
