How do I know if a prescription medication I take is on the banned list or needs a therapeutic use exemption (TUE)?
The following link will guide you through a search on your specific medicine and will inform you if it is prohibited or whether it needs a TUE.
What is a therapeutic use exemption (TUE)?
The TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) application process gives athletes a means of attaining approval to use a prescribed Prohibited Substance or Method for the treatment of a legitimate medical condition.
This process is in place to protect the rights of athletes to compete on a level playing field
Further information on the TUE application process with links to the downloadable application forms can be found at:
Are supplements safe to use?
Athletes in the UK are strongly advised to be cautious about the use of any supplement. No guarantee can be given that any particular supplement, including vitamins and minerals, ergogenic aids, and herbal remedies, is free from Prohibited Substances.
For athletes consuming a normal, varied and balanced diet, that meets their energy requirements, there is limited evidence that vitamin and mineral supplementation is necessary to enhance health or performance.
